On February 24, 2025, a glittering event to award the City of Vienna's sports awards and sports honors took place in the Armorial Hall of the Vienna City Hall. Mayor Michael Ludwig and Sports City Councilor Peter Hacker presented the coveted awards to outstanding athletes and personalities. Racketlon player Christine Seehofer from the Sportunion Racketpoint Vienna was awarded the Grand Sports Prize, while further honors went to badminton player Katrin Neudolt from the Vienna Deaf Sport Club 1901 and carom player Arnim Kahofer from the Vienna Billiards Association. Report from the city of Vienna documents the impressive achievements of the honorees.

The sports honors were awarded to two deserving personalities in senior sports: Eva Fürlinger, who discovered running at the age of 48 and achieved over 400 podium places, including seven medals at European and World Championships, and Dr. Anton Novak, a pioneer in dance sports, known for his tournament series “Vienna Dance Concourse”. In his speech, Mayor Ludwig emphasized the important role of sport for the community: “Sport is the elixir of life, self-empowerment and freedom.” The musical accompaniment by the Vienna Strings also gave the celebration a festive setting.

In addition, the importance of volunteering was emphasized.
