A dramatic incident overshadows the return of ski superstar Marcel Hirscher. The eight-time overall ski World Cup winner tore a cruciate ligament in his left knee during training on the Reiteralm on Monday. Despite a promising training session with “cool swings”, the 35-year-old slipped at the crucial moment. “It was a classic inside ski mistake,” Hirscher explained, adding that he quickly got back up. An unexpected twist
Hirscher, who had fortunately been spared any major injuries so far, reflected on the incident and said: "It happened badly and I didn't even have a real fall. The operation went according to plan, and Hirscher expressed gratitude to the medical team, especially doctor Jürgen Mandl. He notes that it is important to treat injuries like isolated cruciate ligament tears professionally, especially at his age. “I will still do a lot of sport,” he announced. Despite the disappointment, Hirscher is confident about the future and is ready for rehabilitation. His motto in life remains unshakable: “Shit happens and we move on!” says the exceptional athlete, who is looking forward to his comeback.
