Usyk defeats Fury: superlative boxing match in Saudi Arabia!

In a spectacular boxing match that captivated the world, Oleksandr Usyk successfully defended his undisputed heavyweight title! On Saturday evening in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Ukrainian champion Tyson defeated Fury by unanimous decision on points and remains undefeated!

Judges Gerardo Martinez, Patrick Morley and Ignacio Robles unanimously had the same score of 116-112 for Usyk. A clear victory that underlined the Ukrainian's dominance in this highly anticipated rematch! Usyk landed 179 of 423 punches - that's an impressive 42 percent! Fury, on the other hand, was only able to hit the target with 144 of 509 punches, which means a hit rate of 28 percent.

A fight full of emotions

Usyk, visibly relieved after the fight, said: "I win, that's good. It's not my thing to question the scores. Thank you, God." The fight, which was considered a rematch to Fury's first defeat in May, delivered what it promised: excitement from the first second!

But the spectacle began even before the first gong hit! Usyk's team had asked the Middle East Professional Boxing Commission to force Fury to trim his beard - a beard that looked more like Santa Claus than a boxing champion! But Fury came to the center of the ring unscathed in a bright red Christmas coat and singing Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You"!

The fight itself was a real slugfest! Fury started strong and controlled the first two laps. But Usyk countered in the third and fourth rounds with precise body hits and powerful combinations. Especially in the sixth round, Usyk showed his class and caused the bigger Fury to falter twice!

Fury fights, but Usyk stays calm

It was clear in the second half of the fight that Fury was struggling with his extra weight. Usyk's calm and patient style paid off. He kept finding ways to strike with lightning speed and hit Fury with painful combinations. In the tenth round, Fury tried to overpower Usyk with all his might, but the Ukrainian held his ground and countered cleverly.

In the eleventh round, Usyk's speed came back and he landed devastating combinations that kept Fury at bay. In the final round, the two boxers exchanged punches once again as Fury tried to leave a lasting impression on the judges. But Usyk was at the top of his game!

An innovative AI judge who also delivered results even saw Usyk win 118-112! Fury, who immediately left the hall after the fight, later said: "I thought I won at least three rounds. I dominated the fight." With his right eye swollen, he added: "I will believe until my last breath that I won this fight."

What was less encouraging was the fact that only three belts were at stake, as Usyk was stripped of the title by the IBF because he did not face mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois. Dubois insisted on interrupting Usyk after the fight and demanded a rematch. “I want my revenge, Usyk,” he cried. Usyk responded promptly: "Your Excellency, let me fight Daniel. Thank you very much!"

Usyk fell to his knees after the final bell, knowing he had won the fight. A truly memorable evening for the Ukrainian boxer and his fans!
