Coach search at GAK: Who will save the Reds from relegation?

Coach Rene Poms' time at GAK is over after less than half a year. That reports, among other things Small newspaper. Poms had the task of leading Graz out of the relegation zone of the Bundesliga, but his record speaks for itself: in twelve games, the team only achieved three wins, three draws and had to admit defeat six times. GAK is currently in fifth place in the qualifying group, level on points with bottom-placed Altach, and is therefore in acute danger of relegation.

The separation from Poms was decided after a meeting in the evening, after the first rumors about his departure had already started circulating in the morning. Assistant coach Dino Skvorc took responsibility for the last game against Rapid (0:3) as Poms was unable to stand on the sidelines due to a suspension. Now the sporting leadership, consisting of sports director Didi Elsneg and technical director Tino Wawra, is looking for a new coach. The urgency of this search is clear: the GAK could decide in the next ten games whether the club stays in the league or has to be relegated.

It remains unclear in the coming days when a successor will be presented. Those responsible agree: The new coach must quickly find a connection with the players and be able to get them carried away. There will also be changes in the management, as Harald Hochleitner, the long-time managing director and finance director, will soon be leaving the club. However, this is not related to the separation of Poms, like ORF Styria reported. The sporting management already has a few names of possible candidates in mind, including experienced coaches as well as younger, hungry coaches who could stabilize the team in the crucial weeks.
