New chapter for Newcastle: 70 year dry spell ended!

Newcastle United made history in the EFL Cup final at Wembley on Sunday by beating Liverpool 2-1 to end a 70-year domestic title drought. The Magpies' last successes date back to 1955, when they won the FA Cup. Dan Burn, who is considered a passionate Newcastle fan, scored the first goal in the 45th minute with a header from a corner, followed by another goal from the strong Alexander Isak in the 52nd minute CBS Sports reported. This led to jubilant celebrations from the club's fans and players from the North East of England.

For Liverpool, however, the game was a bitter disappointment after the team had recently failed in the Champions League. Despite offensive problems and only celebrating a goal in stoppage time through Federico Chiesa in the 94th minute, Liverpool could no longer save the title. Chiesa's goal, which was finally recognized after a long VAR check, brought tension again in the final minutes of the game, but Newcastle refused to let the title be taken away, which spurred the team on even more oe24 reported. Liverpool will therefore only be able to work towards the Premier League title, while Newcastle still have a chance of securing a place in the Champions League next season, as they are currently in sixth place in the Premier League.
