Spring full of fun: Vice Mayor opens holiday fun in the town hall!

On April 16, 2025, the “Spring Vortex” event will take place in Vienna City Hall, which is designed for children and young people between the ages of 3 and 13. The event will take place over two days, on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th April, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visitors can enter the historic ballrooms of the town hall via the Lichtenfelsgasse entrance. Vice Mayor Bettina Emmerling will open the festival.

“Spring Swirl” offers a varied and free program that includes numerous creative stations, face painting, a puppet stage and board games. In addition to the creative activities, children can take part in a stage program with theater, music, magic, participatory concerts and a magic show. The event will be enriched by various artists and groups, including the Thought Travel Orchestra, Clown Dario Zorell, the Enemenemuh Children's Theater and Suli Puschban, who will offer a special children's concert.

Creative stations and play options

As part of the event, children can get active in the various creative stations. These include a craft zone in the coat of arms hall, where Easter bunnies, eggs and spring artwork can be created. There is also a soap workshop from the Cobenzl estate, painting stations for recycled art and a special area for small children with a crawling worm and a playhouse. A giant hidden object picture provides additional fun. Face painting is also not neglected, here the little visitors can transform themselves into butterflies, button noses or glitter tigers. The Wienxtra games box with a selection of board games is available for older children. Registration is not required and further information is available in the Kinderaktiv app and on ferienspiel.at.

The “Spring Whirl” initiative fits ideally with the goals of the APL association, which has been committed to digital education, e-sports and media literacy since 2001. APL sees gaming as an opportunity for further development and equal opportunities for young people. The AREA52 serves as a meeting point for gaming, community and further education, which also supports the creative activities in the town hall. The association not only promotes competitions and workshops for skill development, but also a strong gaming community with a variety of offers for young people who are enthusiastic about gaming.

The “Spring Whirl” event not only stands for creative play and fun, but also for a connection between traditional leisure activities and modern educational concepts, which are supported by initiatives such as APL. It will be an experience that is all about creativity, play and community.
