In a dramatic incident in Balochistan, Pakistan, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) separatists kidnapped more than 450 people from a train. On Tuesday, the group, known for its violent attacks, carried out a raid in which they blew up the train tracks and stormed the train. The attackers demanded the release of detained activists within 48 hours and threatened to execute hostages if their demands were not met the small newspaper reported.

The Pakistani security forces immediately launched measures to free the hostages. How the time reported, the authorities have already managed to free 80 hostages. Among those freed were 43 men, 26 women and 11 children. Nevertheless, efforts to safely release the remaining passengers continue, while safe locations for the remaining missing become the focus of security forces. According to reports, further operations have already killed 27 of the attackers and security operations to “eliminate the remaining terrorists” are continuing.

Balochistan, Pakistan's poorest province, is known for recurring violent clashes between security forces and separatist and Islamist groups. The BLA is one of the most active militant organizations in the region. In recent years, militants have significantly increased their attacks on security forces and civilians. According to experts, more than 1,600 people in Pakistan were killed in various attacks in 2024, highlighting the precarious security situation in this conflict zone.
