Hostus in the Gaza: horror, hope and a fragile peace!
In the Gaza Strip, the terrorist organization Hamas handed over the corpses of four Israeli hostages to the International Committee from the Red Cross. As reports krone.at , the remains must still be identified and the relatives are to be informed. This time the handover took place without the usual staging by armed fighters of Hamas, who often caused a media spectacle. Instead, the handover took place in silence, which had been agreed in the run -up to the week, to enable further release from Palestinians who are sitting in Israeli prisons. In return, around 600 Palestinian prisoners are to be released after Israel had a temporary stop of these layoffs due to the unacceptable circumstances of the previous hosts.
At the same time, the pictures of the freed Israeli hostages, some of which appeared in a worrying state, are disturbing and show the cruel reality behind the scenes. The men who were able to return to captivity after 498 days were heavily emaciated and reported abuse during their time in the care of Hamas. This cruel reality was also addressed by nzz.ch Propaganda uses to demonstrate their power.
Current developments and uncertainty
The weapon situation is fragile because Hamas has announced that they no longer release any further hostages, unless its demands for more humanitarian aid and equipment are fulfilled. In response to this, Israel has moved troops to the border and threatens to escalate the conflict again, if there are further delays. The pressure on the Israeli government is growing to do everything for the return of the remaining hostages, since the current military operation is perceived as insecure. NZZ.CH emphasizes that the keynote player plays a central role for Hamas and their hostages. So far there are still 59 hostages in the violence of the Islamists, many of whom have been severely abused.
