Lower Austria Animal Welfare Prize 2025: Your ideas are in demand!

The Animal Welfare Prize 2025 honors committed people and groups who fight tirelessly for the well-being of animals. Responsibilities that often take place in secret are intended to be made visible through this award. How ots.at reports, State Councilor Mag. Susanne Rosenkranz called on people to submit innovative and sustainable projects in order to emphasize the importance of animal protection. The prize is being awarded for the seventh time and includes prize money totaling 12,000 euros, of which 6,000 euros are earmarked for first place. The aim is to promote initiatives that go beyond the minimum legal requirements and support particularly species-appropriate forms of animal husbandry.

The application deadline ends on August 17, 2025. A top-class jury, led by the well-known animal welfare expert Maggie Entenfellner, will select the best projects. The award ceremony is scheduled for October 2, 2025. “We would like to create a platform to recognize the outstanding achievements in animal protection and to encourage imitation,” says Rosenkranz. The crown will once again chair the jury and thus focus on outstanding commitment to animal welfare.

In order to be successful, the submitted projects must meet special criteria, including exemplary effect, innovativeness and sustainability. The initiatives should not be older than two years, be fully implemented and have already had an impact. The animal welfare prize also requires the winners to present their projects in a yearbook published by the state - an additional incentive for submissions.
