A dramatic traffic accident occurred on Wednesday evening in Achstetten when a 50-year-old VW driver was involved in an accident and then fled the scene. According to reports from the Swabian newspaper The 54-year-old driver of a Nissan was driving on the roundabout around 5:45 p.m. when the VW driver drove into traffic without braking and collided with her vehicle. But the Nissan driver acted quickly: she gave chase and informed the police via an emergency call. This led to a chaotic chase in which the VW driver stopped at a bus stop but tried to continue driving in confusion. Soon after, he turned onto another street, where he ended up stuck in a field. When police checked him, they found no signs of alcohol or drug abuse, but he said he had taken medication. The public prosecutor's office then ordered a blood sample, which was carried out in a hospital Newsflash24 reported.

The total property damage is estimated at around 3,000 euros. The VW had to be recovered by a towing service. The police from Laupheim have started an investigation and are urgently appealing for information, especially from witnesses who observed the incident, including the driver who had to brake when the VW started turning.
