A tragic event shook the community of Herzogenburg when a barn fire broke out at around 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, January 12th. Hundreds of firefighters were mobilized to battle the flames, which quickly grew out of control. According to a report by MeinBezirk, there were 66 sheep in the stable at the time of the fire. Desperate attempts by two women to save the animals ended tragically: only four sheep could be brought to safety, while 62 animals fell victim to the flames. Both women suffered minor injuries and had to be treated for smoke inhalation. The extinguishing work took several hours and the stable was completely destroyed. The police have started an investigation into the cause of the fire, but exact details are not yet known.
