Tragic end: missing man from Wattens found lifeless on the Innufer

A tragic incident shakes the community in Wattens: On March 13, 2025, a 28-year-old man from a childcare facility was reported as missing. The impaired man had planned to take the train to his father to Kramsach, where he did not arrive. According to a first examination, he could have entered a wrong train at Fritzens/Wattens station and moved towards Oberland, as the Tyrol State Police Directorate reports.

After events in the afternoon of March 13, when the last known location of the missing person was found at around 3:15 p.m. at Rietz station, the search was initially unsuccessful. The missing father of the missing person turned to the public and asked for help. The police published a detailed description of the man, including a photo and his clothing: a black quilted jacket, light blue jeans and black winter boots with Velcro fastener, accompanied by a blue/gray backpack.

In the early morning hours of March 14, the first indications were given that the man might have been spotted in Haiming. Extended search measures were initiated immediately. Unfortunately, the search led to a devastating discovery a little later: the 28-year-old was found lifeless on the Innufer. Despite all the efforts of the rescue workers, any help came too late.
