Tragic skiing accidents in Tyrol: Two Dutch people lose their lives

A terrible accident shook the Tyrol ski area when two tragic ski accidents occurred within a very short space of time. On Friday, January 4th, a 23-year-old Dutchman lost his life in a fall off the secured slopes on the Stubai Glacier. The young man was with his brother and a friend when he lost control of his skis around midday and crashed into a rock. Despite immediate help from the piste rescue team and the rapid deployment of an emergency helicopter, any help came too late. The police reported that the scene of the accident was quickly secured and the body had to be recovered by helicopter. An autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause of death, although there is currently no evidence of foul play Kosmo.at reported.

Another fatal accident in Nauders

At the same time, another fatal accident occurred in Nauders, where a 47-year-old Dutch ski fan also went off the slopes and crashed into a tree. After the incident on Tuesday afternoon, which occurred around 2 p.m., witnesses provided first aid, but the quick intervention of the piste rescue service and the emergency doctor was unsuccessful. Attempts at resuscitation remained unsuccessful after half an hour. The exact circumstances that led to this incident are now being investigated by the police, reported Krone.at.

In another incident in Tyrol's Ötztal, an eight-year-old boy injured a ten-year-old girl from Germany when they collided on the slopes during an excursion together. The girl had to be flown to hospital for further treatment. The events in Tyrol clearly highlight the dangers of skiing and show how quickly a day of skiing can turn into a tragedy.
