Shots and shouts in the skate park: police take action!

On June 1, 2025, disturbing incidents occurred in the skate park in Vienna-Floridsdorf, which resulted in a massive police operation. A targeted campaign was launched to combat youth crime and crimes in public spaces. This campaign focused specifically on Floridsdorf train station and the adjacent skate park.

The operation, which was carried out in cooperation with the Vienna Emergency Response Unit and the police dog unit, was the result of several incidents that affected the residents' sense of security. On Friday evening, several teenagers, including a young man with a gun, chased another person at the skate park. During this incident, shots were fired and shouts of “Allahu akbar” were heard, further escalating the situation.

Police actions and investigations

Although there were fortunately no injuries, a search for the suspects was immediately launched. The police checked a total of 25 people as part of the focus operation. Two administrative reports were drawn up for breaches of decency and two reports were made to the Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum. The officers also found two addictive substances, which, however, could not be assigned to a specific owner or dealer.

The investigation into dangerous threats is still ongoing and there is currently no concrete information about the suspects. In order to minimize the security risk, the police plan to continue to increase surveillance of the area around Floridsdorf train station. This includes increased foot patrols and increased patrols.

The incidents at the skate park highlight the challenges police face in combating youth crime. Continued vigilance in the affected area is essential to increase citizens' sense of security and prevent recurrence of incidents.

The situation will therefore be closely monitored in the coming weeks in order to take preventive action against similar incidents.
