Shocking emergency operation: Georgian seriously injures woman in Vienna!

In eastern Switzerland, New Year's Eve was marked by dangerous incidents and sometimes serious injuries due to improper lighting of fireworks. An incident in Bichwil was particularly alarming: at around 12:20 a.m. three young people, two 19-year-olds and a 16-year-old, were injured in an explosion from a fireworks battery. This was set off by a 36-year-old man. Fortunately, they were all only slightly injured but had to be taken to hospital Thurgauer newspaper reported.

But that wasn't everything. In Gossau, a police officer was shot at with a firecracker by unknown strangers, and the cantonal emergency call center received a total of over 20 reports of improperly lit fireworks. An explosion in Rorschacherberg was particularly worrying: a 36-year-old man tampered with homemade fireworks, which resulted in his left forearm being blown off. He had to be taken to the hospital with serious injuries like that ORF Vienna explained extensively.

Additional incidents in St. Gallen

Three people suffered unspecified injuries when unknown people detonated fireworks into a crowd in the market hall during a New Year's Eve party. Here, too, the victims were quickly given medical care and transported to various hospitals. The St.Gallen cantonal police are currently looking for witnesses who have information about the crime or images in order to identify those responsible.

Overall, however, minor incidents within the city of St. Gallen remained limited, with the police primarily responding to disturbances of the peace and reports of young people with fireworks. During the big celebrations, it was pleasing that there was only a few damage to property and no major incidents.
