Police discover gang-like vehicle smuggling at the border!
During a Schengen check in Leopoldschlag (Freistadt district) on Friday evening, officials encountered an explosive vehicle movement. The 57-year-old driver of a Spanish-registered motorhome, who identified himself with a Belarusian passport, a Polish residence permit and a driving license, was arrested. However, the RV was not registered to him, raising suspicions that it was intended to be brought illegally to the Middle East, like that Volksblatt reported.
The check took place shortly before the border crossing into the Czech Republic when the vehicle was stopped at around 8:20 p.m. After extensive investigations, the police discovered two people behind the attack whose identities were classified as suspicious. One of the middlemen turned out to be a Romanian national driving under a false identity. The second suspect, who is believed to be a Russian citizen, also had considerable doubts about the authenticity of his identification documents nachrichten.at reported.
Despite the clear indications that the motorhome was intended for a planned move abroad, the driver did not confess. The rightful owner of the motorhome has already filed a complaint in Spain, while the investigations by the State Criminal Police Office and Interpol are continuing. The arrested man is now in Linz Prison while a Schengen-wide manhunt has been launched to stop this criminal activity.
