Knife attacks shake Linz: teenagers and ex-husband on the run!
On the evening of December 28th, there were two alarming incidents involving young perpetrators in Linz, both of which were linked to serious violence. A 16-year-old Hungarian and his 12-year-old accomplice were arrested by the police at Linz main train station after they had previously attacked a 16-year-old student in Steyr. The two accused threatened her with a knife around 6 p.m. and forced her to hand over cigarettes and cash before fleeing by train to Linz. Thanks to the police's quick investigative work and the analysis of surveillance videos, the identity of the perpetrators was quickly clarified. The victim recognized the two perpetrators from photos, which led to their immediate arrest. The 16-year-old was taken to the Linz prison while the knife was seized as a possible murder weapon Volksblatt reported.
Another brutal crime occurred on December 11, when a 45-year-old man tried to kill his ex-wife with a kitchen knife in the Kleinmünchen district of Linz. The perpetrator ambushed the 31-year-old in the parking lot of her workplace and stabbed her in the chest with an 11 cm long blade. Despite serious injuries to her lungs, the woman survived thanks to her quick actions. The perpetrator, a homeless alcoholic, initially fled, but later turned himself in to the police and confessed to the crime. He said he acted out of jealousy and years of frustration that his ex-wife had "screwed him over." In this case, too, the accused was transferred to the prison on the orders of the Linz public prosecutor's office while the investigation into attempted murder against him continues MyDistrict reported.
