Young people are planning an act of violence at the Nordringschule in Landau!

In Landau, a planned violent attack on classmates at the Nordringschule was prevented. Three young people between the ages of 15 and 16 are suspected of having prepared an attack on their classmates. The crime was supposed to take place in December 2024.

The investigation is being led by the Frankenthal public prosecutor's office and the Rhine-Palatinate police headquarters. The suspects had already made concrete preparations, but no details have been published yet. The main suspect, a 16-year-old former student at the Nordringschule, is said to have played a key role in driving the planning forward. He is currently in a closed psychiatric facility.

Investigation and school action

The two other suspects, a 16-year-old student and a 15-year-old student from the Nordringschule, were temporarily excluded from classes. The Nordringschule and the police took immediate measures to ensure school operations after the Christmas holidays. Authorities say the suspects no longer pose a threat.

The investigation is now concentrating on the background and motive of the planned crime. The Rhine-Palatinate police headquarters works closely with the school management, the responsible youth welfare offices and the parents of the suspects.
