In a shattering incident in Gersdorf an der Feistritz, there was a massive explosion in a house at around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday afternoon. A 60-year-old homeowner alerted the emergency services after deleting the fire that was triggered by the explosion himself. The man reported the incident on the advice of his insurance agent, such as meinbezirk.at reported.
The explosion occurred in the kitchen on the upper floor of the house and led to enormous damage. Windows and balcony were torn out by the force, and numerous glass splinters were several meters away on the property of the house. The owner's vehicles parked nearby were also damaged by the splinters. The forces of the police found that all people in the house remained unharmed at that time: the homeowner was in the garden, while his 92-year-old father and his nurse were in the basement. The man's sister was also visiting and stayed in the house, which fortunately made the situation even more glimpse, as orf reported.
cause remains unclear
The investigation into the cause of the explosion is still ongoing. The State Police Directorate of Styria switched on the State Criminal Police Office and the District Brander investigators to find out what led to this serious incident. The property damage in the house is considerable, but there are still no precise numbers available. The detonation has torn all bedroom doors from the anchors on the upper floor, which indicates the enormous power of the explosion. The safety of the residents is in the foreground, while the cause of this dramatic explosion is further examined.
