Explosion in the residential building in Gersdorf: Police are investigating – everyone is unhurt!
In a shocking incident in Gersdorf an der Feistritz, there was a massive explosion in a residential building around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday afternoon. A 60-year-old homeowner alerted emergency services after extinguishing the fire caused by the explosion himself. The man reported the incident on the advice of his insurance agent, like meinkreis.at reported.
The explosion occurred in the kitchen on the upper floor of the house and caused enormous damage. Windows and balcony doors were torn out by the force, and numerous shards of glass lay several meters away on the property's property. The owner's vehicles parked nearby were also damaged by the splinters. Police determined that everyone in the house was uninjured at the time: the homeowner was in the garden, while his 92-year-old father and his carer were in the basement. The man's sister was also visiting and staying in the house, which fortunately made the situation even less severe ORF reported.
The cause remains unclear
The investigation into the cause of the explosion is still ongoing. The Styria State Police Department called in the State Criminal Police Office and the district fire investigators to find out what led to this serious incident. The detonation ripped all the bedroom doors off their anchorages on the upper floor, indicating the enormous power of the explosion.
