In recent weeks there have been increasing reports of car break-ins in Trier and the surrounding area. Unknown perpetrators often broke the side windows of vehicles and searched the cars for valuables. Several underground car parks in the city are particularly affected, where valuables were stolen in several cases.
That's what she reported Rhine newspaper that between Thursday, January 2nd and Friday, January 3rd, three cars were broken into in an underground car park on Anton-Caspary-Straße. The perpetrators broke the windows and searched the vehicles. In two cases valuables were stolen. There is also talk of an incident on Metternichstrasse in which the side window of a truck was smashed and various tools and a crate of beer were stolen. Another car break-in occurred on January 3rd on Rudolf-Diesel-Straße. The window of a van was also smashed, but apparently nothing was stolen.
More break-ins and investigations
In addition, there were also several car break-ins on December 26th, like this Weekly Mirror reported. The side window of a car on Gneisenaustraße was smashed and two jackets were stolen. The perpetrators broke into three vehicles in an underground car park on Kloschinskystrasse, smashing the passenger side windows. A car was also broken into in another underground car park on Engelstrasse, and the perpetrators were also looking for valuables here. The investigation is ongoing and the police are asking witnesses to contact the criminal police in Trier on 0651 983-43390.
