The scooter thieves strike again: witnesses urgently wanted!
In the last few days there have been increasing reports of scooter thefts in Rhineland-Palatinate. On December 7th and 8th, two scooters were stolen by unknown perpetrators in Sondernheim. According to a report by the Rhine Palatinate The first theft occurred on Langgewannstrasse between Saturday lunchtime and Sunday morning. The 36-year-old affected had secured his red Sym scooter, valued at around 900 euros, with a steering wheel lock. Despite these measures, the scooter with the inscription “Red Devil” was stolen. Another scooter was stolen on Saturday evening on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße and later spotted on “Am alten Hafen” street; a detailed description of the second scooter is not yet available.
Another incident occurred in Haßloch, like freenet.de reported. A 125 cc scooter was kidnapped on Haydnstrasse on December 4th around 5:30 p.m. An attentive passer-by later found the scooter in the Burgweg/Lachener Weg area after he had gone looking for it himself. During the check it turned out that the perpetrators had tried to hotwire the scooter, but were unsuccessful. Haßloch police are calling on witnesses to come forward if they have any information about the incidents.
The increase in scooter thefts is causing concern among vehicle owners as perpetrators appear to be increasingly ignoring owners' safety precautions. The police ask the public to be vigilant and to report suspicious observations immediately in order to catch the perpetrators and prevent further thefts.
