Brutal attack in the Zillertal: holidaymaker hits helpful Belgian!

A brutal incident shook the Tyrolean Zillertal at the weekend: a 21-year-old Dutchman hit a 59-year-old Belgian in the face when he tried to help him. The incident occurred late on Saturday evening around 11 p.m. in a hotel parking lot in Mayrhofen. The Belgian noticed a drunk man on the ground and offered to help, but he reacted violently and attacked him without warning. According to police, the victim fled to a nearby hotel and alerted the police.

Riot in the hotel complex

The situation escalated further when the perpetrator, who initially escaped, caused a commotion at another hotel shortly afterwards. Despite having lost his access card, the Dutchman tried to gain entry by force by kicking and smashing a glass door. A police patrol was alerted to this new incident. As part of the investigation, the physical assault against the 59-year-old Belgian was clearly attributed to the alleged attacker, according to information from crown.

The Belgian suffered injuries in the brutal attack and had to be taken to hospital. Despite the incident, the perpetrator paid compensation for the destroyed door after his early departure. These violent attacks not only cast a bad light on the Tyrolean tourism sector, but also show how quickly harmless assistance can turn into a dangerous confrontation wien.ORF.at reported.
