A drunk 50-year-old man kept the police in Blaustein (Alb-Donau district) and Nattheim (Heidenheim district) in suspense for several hours on Monday evening. As the Stuttgart newspaper reported, the search got underway after the man's ex-wife called 911 and informed police that her former partner was driving a motorhome drunk.
At around 9:15 p.m. the first witness came forward and reported about her 50-year-old ex-husband. Despite an intensive search, including with a police helicopter, the driver was initially unable to be found. It wasn't until around 11 p.m. that the police received another tip from a woman at the Nattheim truck stop who reported that the man had asked her for a ride to the gas station.
Successful arrest in Heidenheim
The police quickly identified the man as the wanted person and began an investigation. However, the 50-year-old fled when officers wanted to take action against him. The search had to be stopped after two hours. At 2:20 a.m. the man rang the bell at a private house in Oggenhausen and asked for a taxi. This prompted the taxi company to inform the police.
The police officers were finally able to arrest the heavily intoxicated man. He did not have a valid driver's license and had a blood sample taken. He now has to answer for drunken driving and driving without a license freenet.de reported. The whole event was a clear case of alcohol influence, which luckily passed without any major incidents.
