Bank robberies in Tyrol: A robbery with an unloaded weapon and 15 years in prison!
In Tyrol, the wave of bank robberies is increasing worryingly. At least ten robberies have been registered since November 2023, alarming security authorities. The trial begins on Thursday against a suspected bank robber who stormed into a Raiffeisen bank in Mieders at the end of August and stole a five-figure sum by threatening him with an unloaded CO2 pistol. The 24-year-old local suspect was quickly identified and arrested after fleeing through the fields with the loot, as Krone.at reported.
Investigations and arrests
There had already been further arrests. A 24-year-old Tyrolean and an alleged 32-year-old Russian accomplice were caught after an attack on the BTV on Innsbruck's Mitterweg in July. Another robbery in Innsbruck, as well as a failed robbery attempt at the savings bank, also led to quick solutions thanks to intensive investigations. This investigation shows that the police are not taking the bank robbery trend lightly, either tirol.ORF.at reported. There are harsh penalties: the main charge is aggravated robbery, which could bring the perpetrator up to 15 years in prison. The question remains whether his statement “No fear, just money” will be taken into account in his defense.
