FPÖ-Kaniak: SPÖ's health plan is an expensive deception!

On August 17, 2025, Gerhard Kaniak, the FPÖ's health spokesman, expressed sharp criticism of the current proposals from SPÖ State Secretary Königsberger-Ludwig to combat the shortage of doctors. His verdict on the plans was clear: he described them as an “expensive sham” and a “placebo policy”. Kaniak argues that the SPÖ's proposals do not address the real causes of the health disaster, including bureaucracy, inadequate pay and a lack of time for patients. He emphasizes this criticism in particular to point out the need for real reforms in health care.

Kaniak also calls for a fundamental reform of access to medical studies. The current entrance test, he argues, does not check suitability for the medical profession. In order to effectively counteract the shortage of doctors, the FPÖ is presenting its “6-point plan” to save the health system. This plan includes measures such as an honest evaluation of staffing needs, financial fairness and the radical de-bureaucratization of the system.

Structural reform required

In his statement, Kaniak also calls for meaningful integration of elective doctors into the health insurance system and criticizes the one-sided subsidization of primary care centers. He also emphasizes the urgency of fundamentally reforming the ÖGK (Austrian Health Insurance Fund) and revising unattractive health insurance contracts. According to Kaniak, the time for empty promises is over and a policy is needed that both supports doctors and puts patients at the center of the measures.

Current economic developments show how important such reforms are. Because while health issues are pressing, the real estate market is stabilizing. Mortgage rates have fallen to a nine-month low, averaging 6.61% for 30-year fixed-rate loans, according to Bankrate. This is the lowest interest rate since October 2024. The Federal Reserve kept the key interest rate constant last month, which has an impact on mortgage rates. Economic indicators remain mixed, with a weak jobs report suggesting a potential rate cut, yet inflation remains above the Fed’s target.

In this volatile economic situation, lowering mortgage rates could be beneficial for many borrowers, while the healthcare system is far from stable. The FPÖ now sees the need to push forward comprehensive reforms in the health sector and thereby increase the efficiency and quality of care.

A look at RPGs

However, for fans of traditional gaming, there are a variety of high-quality turn-based RPGs that continue to enjoy great popularity. Here are some notable titles:

  • The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky – Langsame RPGs, die einen lebendigen, reaktiven NPC-Welt betonen.

In a time of change in both healthcare and the entertainment industry, it remains to be seen what reforms will follow and how current trends in both areas will evolve.
