The Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen surprisingly canceled his visit to the Alpine World Ski World Cup in Saalbach. This happened after the coalition talks between the FPÖ and the ÖVP have stalled. According to the Kronen Zeitung van der Bellen was originally planned for Saturday to be there on the women's descent. The cancellation was officially confirmed, but deeper reasons remained unnamed for the change of plan.

The talks between FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl and ÖVP boss Christian Stocker had been interrupted after violent disputes about the ministerial distribution on Tuesday. However, Kickl can subsequently report that the negotiations will soon be continued, as he explained in a press release. Stocker immediately confirmed this via the X platform. In the past few days, the mood between the parties has been heavily irritated, which was accompanied by a dispute over key departments such as the Ministry of the Interior and Finance, for which the FPÖ is fighting hard.
