Compromise in sight: round of zero wages for federal politicians!
Österreich - The salaries of federal politicians will remain unchanged in the coming year. ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS have agreed on a zero-wage round that emerges from an original proposal by the turquoise-green government. This step comes in the middle of a massive budget hole that the new coalition negotiators currently have to cope with. Such a measure was already announced for top politicians in the summer, including Federal President, Government Members, and National Council President and ClubPlets. A reduced increase was originally planned for mandatars in the National Council and the Federal Council, but the changes in the majority relationships from the National Council election required a broad political agreement. Therefore, the parliamentary factions are intensively negotiated to implement the zero-wage round rapidly, as OE24 reports .
FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl penetrates a null wage round that is supposed to include not only federal politicians, but also politicians at the state level. This is necessary to set a sign of solidarity with the population and to reduce the gap between the political class and the citizens. Kickl also criticized the different regulations for adapting salaries, which are now a "stain carpet". His party plans to contribute a corresponding application at the next National Council meeting because, despite an election victory, she did not receive a government formation order. The Greens also expanded their demand for a complete zero-wage round and plan to contribute a regulation that concerns both federal and state politicians, such as Salzburg24 reports .
