Viennese economy: Ruck praises the collaboration of the city government!

Wien, Österreich - On June 10, 2025, the constituent meeting of the new Vienna municipal council took place, in which Michael Ludwig was once again elected mayor by the SPÖ. He received 69 out of 100 votes, a remarkable support accompanied by Standing Ovations of the SPÖ and the Neos and the Greens. Interestingly, the voting counts showed that a voice came from a member of the ÖVP or FPÖ, which indicates a certain cross -party support. At the same time, the number of city councils was increased to 13, whereby the SPÖ continues to keep the upper hand.

Walter Ruck, President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, congratulated the city government and the mayor on their success. He emphasized the importance of cooperation in Vienna and expressed the desire that dialogue and constructive solutions should be in the foreground. Ruck sees it as the goal of promoting Vienna as a business location and keeping an eye on the well -being of the Viennese. He is looking forward to the continuation of the cooperation with the city government and wishes the new mandataren every success for the upcoming period, as reports ots.

Detailed election results and structures

In the course of the meeting, the chairpersons of the local council were also elected. While the SPÖ chairman Thomas Reindl and Marina Hanke were only rejected by the FPÖ, FPÖ candidate Wolfgang Seidl only received the votes of his faction and the ÖVP. Jennifer Kickert from the Greens was elected unanimously. At the same time, the elections of the city council members and the two vice mayors, which the occupied offices will continue to consolidate, run in accordance with the information from Kurier.

The SPÖ mandates and mandatars wore red cloves at the session, while the Neos did not use a similar symbolic gesture. The ÖVP showed itself with white roses, and the FPÖ wore a red and white-red Mascherl. The Greens presented hop base plugs, which illustrates the variety of political currents in Vienna.

Vienna's role as a business location

Vienna has developed into a central business location in Central Europe in recent years. This applies particularly in the areas of life sciences, creative industries and information and communication technology (ICT). The city not only offers an excellent infrastructure, but also has a high quality of life to offer. In 2024 Vienna was named the most livable city in the world by the "Economist Intelligence Unit". With over 2 million inhabitants, Vienna is also a growth market, in which a new company is founded every 57 minutes, as Vienna.info describes.

In addition, Vienna has made a name for itself as a location for central headquarters of international companies. Almost half of all international companies that expand to Austria are settling in Vienna. The living research landscape of the city, which comes up in the Life Sciences with around 600 research institutions and companies, is particularly remarkable.

With the continuous investments in the business location and the active efforts of the city government, Vienna will further strengthen its role as an attractive location for companies and living space for the population.
