NEOS calls for expansion of the shuttle service during the U1 closure

After the announcement about the ongoing closure of the U1, the NEOS parliamentary group on the Wieden intensified the dialogue with the district administration. This is in view of the increasing challenges for citizens caused by the sudden closure. People with limited mobility are particularly affected by this situation, which is why NEOS is proposing to temporarily expand the existing Wiener Linien shuttle service.

The shuttle service, which was originally designed for the construction site on Wiedner Hauptstrasse, could possibly also extend beyond the U1 to Prinz-Eugen-Strasse. These measures would make it possible to ease traffic in the area somewhat. Johannes Sablatnig, district spokesman for NEOS on the Wieden, expressed concern about the resulting chaos in traffic: "Unfortunately, the closure of the U1 will bring even more chaos to the current traffic situation on the Wieden in the short term. As a solution-oriented force, our NEOS district councilors are looking for a short-term solution for the people of Wiedn in consultation with the district management."

Shuttle service for people with reduced mobility

The shuttle service was originally an initiative to mitigate the disruption caused by the ongoing construction work on Wiedner Hauptstrasse. Expanding the area of operation could bring about a timely improvement for the affected residents. It remains to be seen how Wiener Linien will react to the proposal and whether such a short-term change to the shuttle service can be implemented.

For anyone who would like to find out about the situation with the U1 closure, detailed information is available directly from Wiener Linien: U1 block. Information about the shuttle service for people with reduced mobility can be found on the Wiener Linien website: Shuttle service.
