Villa Aurora: More and more victims are speaking up
The Situation around Villa Aurora in Ottakring is increasingly dramatic. Several victims have now registered and report on considerable financial losses. First of all, the owner, the Hallmann Holding, was in the headlines, but now other stories are peeled out of the fog of the grievances.
So a gardener who worked on the area of the villa has laid turf and has been waiting for his payment since then. The amount amounts to around 20,000 euros. An artist who has had exhibition options since the reopening of the villa reports about a loss of around 6,000 euros, since five of her exhibited pictures have disappeared without a trace.
Financial damage to event guests
But that's not all: even guests who had made payments for events in the villa are among the injured parties. One of the stories concerns a man who has made a deposit of 1,000 euros to present a celebration with about 70 guests. When they checked the planned date in front of the villa, the building was closed and there was no official cancellation. More and more affected people have filed a complaint and are calling for clarification.
In the meantime, the restaurant of the same name, which was previously under the direction of the restaurateur Marc Moosleitner, also employs the dishes. This not only has not paid rent and deposit, but is also suspected of having illegally felled trees on the property. Moosleitner had opened the popular excursion destination last June, but continuous operation could not be established. Supposedly only some events took place sporadically, and since then it has become quiet.
The fact that Moosleitner is still unobtrusive is particularly worrying, which makes the owner's legal steps considerably more difficult. The court date to take the legal steps against Moosleitner was postponed because the lawsuit could not be delivered. A new appointment has not yet been determined. In the meantime, the Villa Aurora remains in the Sleeping Beauty, and the owner is unable to either rent or use the building itself.
The case of Villa Aurora shows how quickly an apparently harmonious operation can turn into a complicated legal situation. The city is now looking forward to the developments while the victims are fighting for their money.
