An attentive passerby played a crucial role in the arrest of one of the perpetrators. When the police arrived and saw one of the fleeing young people, the passerby offered his bike so that an official could catch up with the suspect faster. At first the adolescent, after whom he had lost the jacket, started and set off and off, but was arrested in the area of Brandmayergasse.

The arrested is a 17-year-old Syrian. However, due to the instruction of the Vienna public prosecutor's office, it is initially indicated at large.
