Big blow to drug gangs: the police smash the network in Vienna

In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the Viennese police recently smashed a Serbian drug gang. This operation was the result of months of investigation, which included both the criminal police and the operational group to combat street crime. During the deployment, three men who are suspected were arrested on a large scale of addictive substances.

The arrests were carried out in the Vienna district of Favorites and in Meidling after the investigators were able to collect sufficient evidence in September. Access to the suspects was then organized. It was two 29-year-old men and a 26-year-old man. The police not only secured cash in a considerable amount, but also an alarming amount of drugs. A total of around 40 kilograms of cannabis, 5.2 kilograms of cocaine, 7.2 kilograms of heroin and 78 kilograms of stretching agents were confiscated.

The situation of the arrested

The three men, who are all to be brought to court, have so far refused to comment on the allegations. At the order of the Vienna public prosecutor, they were transferred to a correctional facility. The investigation remains active, since the authorities want to uncover the complete extent of drug trade and potential other participants.

The success of the police in this operation shows the continuing efforts of the units to act against drug trafficking in Vienna. Such missions are crucial to protect public security and to contain the spread of drugs. The case also raises questions about which structures and networks enable this trade and how deeply rooted drug trafficking in the region is.
