FPÖ calls for acceptance of the Stalin memorial plaque: a storm of outrage
The discussion about a plaque in honor of Josef Stalin in the 12th Vienna district has taken on speed due to the unveiling of new information about SPÖ boss Andreas Babler. According to reports, BALLER is co -author of a book that Stalin represents in a positive light. Maximilian Krauss, club chairman of the FPÖ in Vienna, vehemently requested the plaque that is attached to the facade of Schönbrunner Schloßstraße 30 in a current statement.
Krauss describes Stalin as one of the worst criminals and mass murderers in history, responsible for the persecution of many, including Jews and political opponents. His so -called "cleansing" led to millions of victims and it was "unacceptable" that there was a memory of such a dictator in Vienna. "It is shameful that a party leader shows such sympathy for a mass murderer," said Krauss, who emphasizes how important it is that Vienna has to take a clear position against Stalin's crime.
background of the plaque
The controversial commemorative plaque was attached to the German 70th birthday on the occasion of Stalin's 70th birthday by the Austria Communist Party. It is the only one of its kind in the West and is the focus of the FPÖ, which demands a quick distance. Krauss plans to submit an application for distance at the next meeting of the Vienna municipal council. He wants to find out whether Babler's attitude is against the Vienna SPÖ views or whether it is widespread there.
The topic is not new, because the SPÖ presiding candidate Rudolf Fußi had already called for a distance of the plaque. Therefore, the voting behavior within the SPÖ may be expected. Krauss appealed to the city of Vienna to take a clear step and remove the board so that Stalin's crimes are not pushed into the background.
The plaque remains at the center of a charged political debate, which illuminates both the past and the current beliefs of political leaders across ideological borders. The step to remove this memorial could be regarded as a signaling for dealing with history in Austria.
