Vienna is fighting against inflation: 100 euro bonus for low earners!

From tomorrow, March 17, 2025, low-income households in Vienna can apply for a compensation bonus of 100 euros. This measure was introduced in response to the expiry of the electricity price cap and the dramatic increase in network fees, which can rise by up to 30 percent. Mayor Michael Ludwig emphasizes that the fight against inflation remains an urgent task. The compensation bonus is aimed at around 130,000 Viennese who are exempt from the ORF household tax and should therefore receive support with their energy costs the press reported.

To apply for the bonus, electricity customers simply need to present their customer number and proof of exemption from the ORF household tax. The application can be made either online on the Wien Energie website, in person at the service centers or by post. The credit will be deducted directly from the next partial amounts or open invoices and can be used once during the promotional period until June 30, 2025. This quick and unbureaucratic measure is intended to help people in difficult life situations, as Mayor Ludwig and Michael Strebl, chairman of the Wien Energie management board, emphasize, although cooperation with social organizations such as Caritas and the Red Cross has already existed for years to offer targeted support APA OTS.

Overall, the compensation bonus is seen as a crucial step to support people in emergencies, especially in times of rising living costs. The social packages worth 22 million euros that have been provided so far show the city's commitment to relieving the burden on households in need, which is of great importance during the ongoing energy crisis. The campaign begins on Friday and is intended to help noticeably reduce the financial burden on those affected.
