Vienna's double murder process: 18-year-old confesses <br> Terrible deeds
On Monday, a process started at the Vienna Regional Court that draws attention to the devastating effects of violence. An 18-year-old faces severe allegations: double murder, attempted murder and deliberate serious bodily harm are attributed to him. The indictment refers to tragic incidents in the summer of 2023, in which he supposedly killed two sleeping homeless with a knife and seriously injured a woman.
The public prosecutor plans to question the survivors as witnesses in order to better clarify the events. The negotiation, which is set to two days, could provide deeper insights into the motifs and the behavior of the accused.
allegations in detail
According to the indictment, the then 17-year-old stabbed a 56-year-old man on July 12, 2023 in Vienna-Brigittenau who slept on a park bench. Another crime followed on July 22nd when he inflicted the serious injuries of the same weapon of a 51-year-old woman in Venice. Fortunately, this survivor has recovered from the injuries. Another incident is particularly striking in which a 55-year-old man lost his life on the Hernals belt on August 9th.
The new process is not limited to killing offenses. The accused is also put on trial for an attack on his mother. On September 18, 2023, he is said to have added several ribs, a skull fracture and numerous bruises.
A psychiatric report was created as part of the previous investigations. It found that the accused was accountable during the acts, which means that the full responsibility for his actions can be assigned to him. At the same time, a personality disorder was diagnosed, which is considered a serious danger for others. Experts warn of the high probability that the young man could become violent again without a therapeutic intervention. In view of these findings, the public prosecutor calls for the accused to be accommodated in a forensic-therapeutic center. The course of the process remains to be seen and could bring crucial information about the motives and the mental state of the accused. Details of this case are still limited, but the investigation is in full swing and could have long -term consequences for everyone involved.
