Murder process: dismembered body in the Marchfeld channel and its secrets
In the next chapter of a tragic crime, a 39-year-old Iranian will have to stand in front of the Vienna Regional Court from December 10th. He is accused of murdering his 45-year-old compatriot in his apartment in Vienna-Hietzing and then dismembered the body. The victim's remains were found in the Marchfeld Canal, which illustrates the extent of the crime.
The killing is said to be about a year ago and for financial reasons. The victim's family reported him as missing on November 15, 2023. The accused was a friend and business partner of the victim, who, as is well known, owed him a significant amount of money. The 45-year-old supposedly confronted him with the repayment and threatened with consequences, which may lead to the tragedy.
Details on the alleged act
According to the allegations, the accused got a hammer and attacked his victim in his apartment during a meeting. He is said to have taken the skull with the hammer to the 45-year-old. As a result, the accused dismantled the body and transported the parts in a case. The head and left foot were sunk in the Marchfeld channel and later recovered in January. The chest with a few ribs soon appeared. After he was arrested, the accused initially confessed, but later changed his statement and claimed that the "Albanian mafia" was involved, and a certain "Mike" had committed the murder. In his opinion, he was only involved in the disposal of the body.
negotiation details and process
The negotiation, which is initially scheduled for two days, could continue due to renovation work at the regional court in the second half of January. In order for the jury negotiation to take place, the capacities of the court halls are restricted. The large jury courtyard will be closed for a long time from the beginning of December. Due to the already booked dates in the remaining rooms, the negotiation can only be continued after the holidays. The second day of the trial is scheduled for January 21, and the judgment could then be expected towards the end of January.
