Vienna is building: new campaign for affordable living space started

In the current Situation, it does not look particularly rosy for the construction and real estate market in Vienna. Significant orders and high credit interests represent a challenge for many companies. In order to counteract this development, a new campaign is launched, which should bring the importance of construction closer to the Viennese. The aim is to focus on sustainable and affordable living space.

The campaign will perform the title "Vienna builds up" and will soon be advertised on public transport, such as trams. The initiative is part of the Vienna Wohnbau Offensive 2024+, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of building, not only for luxurious objects, but also for social living space.

who is involved?

The Viennese residential building councilor Kathrin Gaál from the SPÖ conveys the core of the message in its statements: "Today's construction sites are the living room of tomorrow." It emphasizes the importance of construction projects that create values behind the noise and dust that are important for the future of Vienna. Gaál wants to make sure that an affordable home in Vienna has no exception; It refers to the fact that over 60 percent of Viennese live in funded apartments.

Walter Ruck, President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce (WKW), underlines the economic relevance of this campaign. By investing in the construction and infrastructure sector, not only jobs are secured- over 54,000- also a value added of a total of 4.1 billion euros. These investments promise to give short -term impulses for growth and to contribute to economic stability in the long term.

The construction offensive 2024+

As part of the 2024+ residential building offensive, 22,200 subsidized apartments are planned to offer over 45,000 people. There are currently 16,100 subsidized apartments in different phases of preparation, planning and construction. This corresponds to a total volume of 2.8 billion euros, with a large part of it supported by funding of 1.1 billion euros.

In addition, 6,100 other subsidized apartments are to be built at various locations, for which property developer competitions were launched. Gregor Puscher, Managing Director of the Vienna residential fund, explains that these competitions are an effective means to develop innovative approaches to living needs that also take into account topics such as climate protection and circular economy.

The "Vienna Preses" campaign could play an important role in bringing the citizens closer to the need for investments in residential construction and infrastructure. In doing so, it should initiate the recovery of the construction industry and improve the quality of life in the city as a whole.

In the current situation, it is essential that the Viennese population understands the opportunities behind these projects. The focus on affordable living could not only enliven the construction industry, but also lay the foundation for a future -proof Vienna.
