The 17-year-old, a young Syrian, was accused of forcing the girl to perform sexual acts against her will in a parking garage. According to reports, the girl met the 17-year-old and several other young people in a park after lengthy conversations. Because of the cold, they then sought refuge in the nearby parking garage. After leaving the group, an incident subsequently occurred in which the 17-year-old allegedly forced the girl to have sexual intercourse.
The defendant admitted some of his actions, but denied the allegations of rape. He allegedly did not remember speaking to the girl about her age and believed they were the same age.
