The Vienna police are still looking for a 19-year-old man who fled from the Mittersteig forensic therapeutic center in Margareten on October 14th. This incident occurred when the young man, who had previously fully served a one-year sentence, escaped during his work activities in the prison. According to reports, he managed to escape via an open construction gate and scaffolding on one of the upper floors of the building.
The search for the fugitive has been ongoing for almost a month and a half, but without success. Despite a large number of tips received from the public, the police have so far been unable to find any trace of the man. When asked, police spokeswoman Barbara Gass confirmed that all information received had been checked, but there was no positive result. To date, there is no concrete information about the 19-year-old's whereabouts. This is particularly important because it is unclear whether he may have fled abroad. While the possibility of a European arrest warrant was initially discussed, this has not yet been decided by the responsible regional court in Vienna. Court spokeswoman Christina Salzborn explained that for tactical reasons no further information about the search measures could be provided.
