World Dog Day: 131 dogs are waiting for a loving home in Vienna
World Dog Day on October 10th reminds us that many loyal four-legged friends hope for a loving home. This year there are a total of 131 dogs in the animal quarter at Süßenbrunner Straße 101 in Vienna who are waiting for a new owner. Despite their loyalty and the powerfully emotional stories that many of these dogs bring with them, they often live in difficult conditions and often have sad pasts.
Thomas Benda, the animal quarter's operations manager, emphasizes that every dog has its own story and is waiting to start a better life in a new, loving home. In particular, the 51 long-term residents who have already spent over a year in the animal shelter are finding it difficult not to lose hope. World Dog Day also serves as an impetus to appeal to all those who could give a dog from an animal shelter a new life.
Information about list dogs
Particular attention is paid to the so-called list dogs, 52 of which are housed in the animal quarters. These dogs often have special training needs and require patient and loving people who are willing to deal with the challenges that their training brings. To help interested animal lovers, an information event will take place on November 9th. It begins at 9:30 a.m. and is aimed at serious new pet parents who are ready to take on the special training of these dogs.
World Dog Day should once again remind us that an animal shelter should not be the final home for a dog. The hope is that more people will take the opportunity to give one of these wonderful animals a new home and thus make a valuable contribution to animal welfare. For further information and to register for the event, those interested can visit the animal quarter's website: www.tierquartier.at.
The coming weeks could be crucial in giving these dogs a chance at a better life. The responsibility that comes with this is underestimated by many, which is why information and education are important. A dog not only brings joy, but also requires a lot of care, time and attention.
This initiative, which offers hope and new perspectives for the dogs in the animal shelter, is an important step in raising awareness about animal welfare and adoption. With so many dogs still waiting for homes, it's time to reflect on the individual responsibilities we have toward these loyal companions.
