New Year's market in Vienna: traditional lucky charms and festive stands!

The festive time of the New Year's market stalls begins in Vienna after Christmas, which are open from December 27th to 31st. This tradition brings lucky charms such as lucky pigs, chimney sweepers and horseshoes to the city, which are available at 183 different stands. As reports ORF Vienna , the market office manages the placement of space and monitoring of these stands, all of which act as part of the market regulations.

Marketam director Andreas Kutheil emphasizes the importance of this old tradition, which goes back to ancient Rome when lamps, coins and sweets were given away for New Year's Eve. Today the Viennese enjoy a variety of lucky characters and can choose between five New Year's Eve markets, including the popular festival mile at Maria-Theresien-Platz with 75 stands, of which 21 gastronomic offers provide. 42 stands are also represented in front of the Belvedere Castle, while 17 stands in the pedestrian zone and 11 stands in Floridsdorf on Franz-Jonas-Platz are waiting. In addition, the market in front of the Schönbrunn Castle even opens its gates with 98 stands until January 6, such as Wien.gv.at added.

These markets are not only a place for lucky charms, but also offer the opportunity to spoil themselves with punch, mulled wine and other festive delicacies. The opening of the New Year's market stalls strengthens the sense of community and brings people together while preparing for the turn of the year. With this diverse offer, the market office guarantees that there will be no lack of lucky charms for the coming year.
