New salaries for Diakonie employees: 4% more from 2025!
On Thursday evening, December 10, 2024, an important breakthrough occurred in Vienna: After three successful rounds of negotiations, the GPA and vida unions agreed with Diakonie on a new collective agreement that applies to around 8,000 employees of the non-profit organization. This contract regulates the working conditions in social and medical institutions in Austria, including in areas such as the care of people with disabilities and the elderly as well as the integration of refugees ots.at reported.
Details of the agreement
The new collective agreement comes into force on January 1, 2025 and includes a salary increase of 4 percent on collective and actual salaries as well as on allowances and surcharges. What is particularly pleasing is that employees in groups 6 and 7 will receive an additional increase of 20 euros, while employees in group 8 will receive 100 euros more, provided they do not receive any existing compensation. Furthermore, previous periods of service in the Diakonie employers' association's companies are counted towards the entitlement to additional vacation days, which represents a significant improvement. The care subsidy was also secured for the year 2025, as stated in the collective agreement diakonie.at.
Robert Schütz, a negotiator from the Diakonie employers' association, emphasized the importance of this contract, especially in view of the strained public budget situation. Thomas Lamprecht-Lasinger from the GPA union and Michaela Guglberger from vida also expressed their satisfaction with the result, as the salary increase is above current inflation and thus secures the purchasing power of the employees. These steps are crucial to further strengthen the social sector and make it attractive as the demographic challenges in Austria increase.
