Insolvency scandal: Ex-Signa boss Manuel Pirolt in court!
In a dramatic turnaround in the Signa Group insolvency scandal, bankruptcy proceedings were opened against Manuel Pirolt on Wednesday. The former board of Signa Development and Signa Prime as well as the Laura Private Foundation run by René Benko and his mother Ingeborg is at the center of this legal dispute after a creditor filed an application at the Vienna Commercial Court. According to information from vol.at Pirolt still holds several managing director positions associated with Signa and the private foundation.
What is particularly explosive is that this procedure is not a personal insolvency, but rather an insolvency procedure that was opened due to his entrepreneurial activity as a management consultant, as Jürgen Gebauer from KSV 1870 explains. This raises questions about his liabilities that are not yet known. The insolvency administrator of Signa Prime has also tightened the claims against former board members, including Pirolt, and is making them responsible for damages of around one billion euros. Those affected were asked to “acknowledge their liability in principle” by January 20, 2025, according to the statement kleinezeitung.at.
