Christmas conflict in Traun: SPÖ parliamentary group dismisses members!

In a turbulent local council meeting in Traun, which did not have a Christmas truce in tow, four members of the SPÖ were recalled. This reported MyDistrict. Among those dismissed is the former transport city councilor Eva May-Paulischin and three replacement local councilors. The SPÖ St. Dionysen section, to which those affected belonged, had dissolved in the summer and planned to join the Traun section, which led to heated internal discussions within the SPÖ Traun. Peter Klimczyk, chairman of the SPÖ parliamentary group, explained that the recall was an unfortunate but necessary step to maintain the stability of his parliamentary group.

Complex background to the dismissal

May-Paulischin defended her position and explained that the dissolution of the Dionysen section was legally correct. However, the former support and the procedure within the SPÖ were not discussed at the meeting. An internal misunderstanding on the issue of statutes and the nature of decision-making contributed to the tensions. “I am sorry that the women in the SPÖ Traun are becoming more invisible again,” commented May-Paulischin, who wants to remain active in the group despite the circumstances.

At the same time, mobility in Traun is at a turning point with the planned redesign of city bus transport Mobile to your destination announced. The architectural competition for new stops will be held as part of the Linz regional light rail project until January 2025. This plan could significantly improve public mobility as the SPÖ Traun tries to recover from internal conflicts and focus on a clear political direction.
