VW threatens to clear: 100,000 employees set clear signal!
Vienna, Österreich - The world of work at Volkswagen is on the verge of a change! Another warning strike will take place on Monday, December 9th. According to the negotiator of IG Metall, Thorsten Gröger, almost 100,000 employees took part in the last warning strike. They sent a "loud signal" to the corporate management with the message "Future instead of clear cutting". Gröger made it clear that the pressure on VW should be increased, while the company at the same time tries to justify a strict austerity course with possible factory closures and a job cuts. Despite falling profits, Volkswagen plans to check wages and jobs in the company what could have serious consequences for the workforce.
Financial tensions at Volkswagen and the dividend position
The financial challenges are also reinforced by a decline in the dividend, which is to be paid out against the shareholders against the background of a sunken profit. CFO Arno Antlitz confirmed that the profit per share has fallen by a third by the end of September. The planned dividend is therefore expected to drop to 6.75 euros per share, which is significantly lower compared to before. Analysts expect a decline in the result of 26 percent for the year as a whole. The dividend payment, which amounts to 30 percent of the net result, also has a negative impact on investors.
founded in the S&P 500, the company Kroger also shows positive financial developments. For 2024, a dividend of $ 1.13 per share was decided, which represents an improvement of 14.14 percent compared to the previous year. With a total release of $ 796 million in 2024, Kroger has increased the return to 2.45 percent. While Kroger shines with a price-profit ratio of 15.59 and sales of $ 150.039 billion, Volkswagen faces considerable challenges and has to fight for his future, while the workforce feels pressure through the upcoming negotiations.
