Advent fun in Vorarlberg: Ferris wheel & markets in Bregenz and Dornbirn
The pre-Christmas season has begun in Vorarlberg, and the range of Advent and Christmas markets promises a festive atmosphere. “Bregenz Christmas” is celebrated in the state capital Bregenz from November 15th to December 23rd. A special highlight this year is a 20-meter-high Ferris wheel from which visitors can enjoy the beautiful view of the city and Lake Constance.
In Bregenz there is also the opportunity to take part in the “Eislättileschiassa”, where the aim is to hit the center of the playing field precisely with a curling stick. For those who like ice skating, an artificial ice skating rink is available. During the “Town Hall Lights” light show, which is illuminated at Christmas time, the Bregenz town hall is illuminated with festive lights. The Christmas market in the old town of Bregenz is organized over three weekends.
Exciting offers in Dornbirn
The “Dornbirner Christkindlemarkt” opens its doors from November 22nd to December 23rd in the city center. A novelty will also be presented here: a 15-meter-long curling rink, which consists of two artificial rinks on which six people can each play. With a prior reservation, the train can be used for a fee. In the parish park, children will once again find the popular baking and craft room, while a craft market is organized in the city museum park. Here the mulled wine becomes more expensive from 4.00 euros to 4.30 euros.
For visitors to the Feldkirch Blosengelmarkt, which takes place on November 22nd and 23rd, this is a tradition that has been celebrated for almost 50 years. The proceeds not only support the work of Feldkirch clubs, but also flow into social projects. The “Feldkirch Christmas Town” is open from November 29th to December 24th, where children can bake and do crafts in the “gingerbread house”.
Advent atmosphere in Bludenz
In Bludenz, the Advent season starts with the alternative Christmas market “Heiliger Bimbam” from November 22nd to 24th. Here visitors will find handicrafts and culinary offerings that differ from the standard markets. This is followed by the “Bludenz Christkindlemarkt”, which is open from November 28th to December 24th and features live music, carriage rides and a children's bakery. The price for mulled wine also remains stable in Bludenz.
Overall, the Christmas markets in the region are a popular destination for young and old. They not only offer culinary delights, but also handicrafts and much more. If you would like to get a comprehensive overview of the regional Christmas markets, you will find plenty of information at Vorarlberg Tourismus and the youth information center “aha”.
The festive atmosphere, the special variety of programs and the culinary delicacies make the Christmas markets in the region a highlight in the run-up to Christmas. The rising prices of mulled wine have already been reported, so this will certainly be an issue for many visitors as they enjoy the festive surroundings.
