Dispute in the Bregenz restaurant: wallet theft with consequences

An incident occurred in Bregenz on Friday evening that put a 26-year-old man at the center of events. After a planned visit to a restaurant, the man became involved in a criminal act that began with a theft.

The young man entered a restaurant and ordered a meal. While the employee briefly left, the 26-year-old took the opportunity to steal an unattended wallet and cash. His action initially went unnoticed. But when an employee discovered the theft and confronted the perpetrator, the situation escalated. In a violent altercation, the thief slightly injured the employee with a knife. Despite the injury, the employee was able to grab the perpetrator's cell phone.

Threatened with a baseball bat

The man then quickly left the restaurant to get a baseball bat from his car. With it in his hand, he demanded the cell phone back. The employee retreated into the restaurant in frustration while the perpetrator drove away in his car. This move set off a wave of investigations.

A little later, the 26-year-old returned to the restaurant and confronted the arriving police officers. When he was arrested, it was discovered that he was heavily intoxicated, with a alcohol level of over 1.6 per mille. However, the stolen wallet was no longer with him.

The Feldkirch public prosecutor ordered the suspect to be taken to the prison. He now faces serious legal consequences, including charges of theft, assault, coercion and drunk driving. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and authorities are examining the exact circumstances that led to this dangerous situation. More information can be found at www.vol.at.
