New perspectives for children: Brave stories from Vorarlberg

The Vorarlberg Children's Village recently published exciting stories and findings in the new perspective journal that put the courage and development of children in the spotlight. Stories from children for children that show what makes growing up good. One of the central messages? Give children freedom and support them instead of slowing them down.

Over the last three years, the Vorarlberg Children's Village has collected numerous childhood stories from the region, which are available online on the blog wir-kinder-vorarlbergs.at be published. These narratives provide insights into the experiences of parents and caregivers who played important roles in the children's lives.

Inspiring childhood memories

The new journal presents 15 of a total of 140 stories that document growing up in Vorarlberg. This includes the moving life story of Aydin Aktas, who grew up in two families and is now considered one of the first bankers of Turkish origin in the region. Another story comes from Yvonne Fussi, who found a new home in a children's village family when she no longer thought this was possible. Today she works with traumatized children and gives them a new perspective.

The stories make it clear how important it is to let children make their mistakes. Klaus Drexel, a successful businessman and mountain rescuer, talks about a challenging childhood in which he found support and role models. Julia Zambonin emphasizes that her father's words strengthened her entrepreneurial confidence: "Even mistakes and setbacks are steps in the right direction."

Expert opinions on the subject of child development also find their place in the journal. Psychologist Anne Kuester describes a strong bond between children and their caregivers as a “great investment” that is important for their entire lives. Children need a loving and reliable environment in order to develop healthily.

Adventures and experiences for children

In the context of increasingly less space to play and the influence of digital media, we urgently call for more confidence in children and for them to gain independent experiences. An example of this is the Kids Buin climbing tower, which is operated by the Vorarlberg Children's Village. Here children can test their limits under expert supervision and gain valuable lessons from their experiences. So far, over 1,500 children, young people and adults have taken advantage of this opportunity.

The Perspective Journal not only offers gripping stories, but also practical tips from experts from the Vorarlberg Children's Village to support families in everyday life and promote positive growth. Readers can either read the journal online on the Children's Village website or order it free of charge by contacting those responsible.
