Austria on course for the title? Five wins in a row and the next opponent is waiting!

Vienna Austria is currently experiencing an upward movement in the Bundesliga. After the “Veilchen” were often under pressure in the past, they recently celebrated five wins in a row and thus catapulted themselves to third place in the table. The duel against Hartberg is on the program on Sunday at 5 p.m., where we are aiming for our sixth win. At the same time, WAC hosts Altach and GAK plays in Linz - both games start at 2:30 p.m.

The last similar successful run with six league wins in a row dates back to the 2012/13 season. Despite the positive development, there are still no concrete title ambitions, but coach Stephan Helm is optimistic: “The players stick together and have developed a great team culture.” However, he warns against being blinded by the winning streak, as there is still room for improvement: “We are not there yet.” Those responsible used the international break to carry out a comprehensive analysis in order to continue the positive trend. Helm expects initial progress against Hartberg.

Hartberg’s strengths

The Hartbergers, under coach Manfred Schmid, have also shown improving form and have achieved five wins and only two defeats in the first eight games. In addition to the sporting successes, the city also has positive news to report, as the stadium atmosphere is being improved with financial support from the state of Styria in order to meet the requirements of the Bundesliga in the future.

The last five home games against Hartberg each brought a win for Austria, but Helm also knows how dangerous the guests are: "They combine well, have creative ideas and players who are good at dribbling. However, we are well prepared and want to take away their strengths." The Generali Arena remains an impregnable fortress for the Viennese this season.

The situation near WAC and Altach

There are some personnel problems on Altach's side. Sofian Bahloul is unavailable due to private commitments and Sandro Ingolitsch is suspended. In addition, two players, Gustavo Santos and Lincoln, are injured and are not taking part in training. Coach Fabio Ingolitsch remains optimistic and believes that despite the difficulties a turnaround is possible: "We had the chances, but luck wasn't on our side." The team had to interrupt the last training session due to heavy snowfall, so the final training session took place on Saturday in Salzburg.

At the same time, Gerald Scheiblehner is sitting in the coaching bench at Blau-Weiß Linz, despite considering a move to Grasshoppers Zurich. He is fully focused on the upcoming home game against GAK after his team recently celebrated an impressive 2-0 win against Salzburg. However, GAK coach Rene Poms expects a balanced game in which small details will be important that will decide the outcome of the game. He speaks of a good dose of intensity and tough duels that both teams will bring to the match.
