Serious traffic accident in the Dalaas tunnel: 6 injured and millions in damage!

On December 8th, a devastating traffic accident occurred in the Dalaaser Tunnel in the Bludenz district, in which several people were seriously injured. A 53-year-old Swiss man who was traveling towards Germany ran into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons. Initial investigations indicate that a medical emergency may have been the cause of this serious incident. First, the Swiss man collided with a vehicle driven by a 46-year-old German who was traveling with his family. Shortly afterwards he collided head-on with the car of a 68-year-old German, who was also seriously injured. Two other people were injured in a subsequent accident involving a 21-year-old Dutchman. The injured were immediately taken to nearby hospitals 5min.at reported.

The clean-up work and the care of the injured required a massive response, with 65 firefighters and the Red Cross, supported by an emergency doctor and a rescue helicopter, being on site. The police and ASFINAG ensured that the accident scene was secured, while the Feldkirch public prosecutor ordered the seizure of the accident vehicles. The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is being supported by an expert to clarify what exactly happened at this tragic moment.

The truck accident in North Rhine-Westphalia

Another dramatic traffic situation occurred on the same day in North Rhine-Westphalia, where a truck caused numerous accidents and injuries during a chaotic 60-kilometer journey. North Rhine-Westphalia Interior Minister Herbert Reul said it was fortunate that there were no fatalities. The accident was estimated to cause total damage of at least 1.8 million euros. The police have now identified the truck driver's client and found that he showed little interest in the driver's condition. The 30-year-old, who was initially taken into custody, had shown initial signs of possible drug or alcohol consumption. However, it also turned out that there was evidence of mental illness, which is why the driver was admitted to a psychiatric clinic WDR reported.
